In designing Astar Strike, we aimed to transport users to different locales with new maps constantly, providing them with an ever-evolving landscape to explore and ensuring the game remains fresh and engaging. Every Monday, a new map will be introduced on the Neurolanche Twitter account. The maps unveiled on Mondays will feature in the events held on Tuesday and Saturday of that week. (The map for Thursday's gameplay will be developed seasonally.)
We have previously mentioned that Astar Strike will be playable every day. However, certain days like Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays will feature unique events, each with distinct game modes. This section will explore in detail two specific events that occur on these special days.
In the week's first event, RedFlag, users will compete in teams. The objective is for team members to protect their flags while attempting to capture the opposing team's flags. Each team will consist of five players. Players can form their teams and invite friends 30 minutes before the game starts. If a player is not on a team, they will be automatically assigned to one with an open spot. As this mode is team-based, the winning team will advance to the next round, while the losing team will be eliminated from the event. Each winning team will be matched with another winning team in subsequent rounds. The RedFlag mode, which will include group eliminations, quarterfinals, semifinals, and a final, will be seen in the Astar Strike Season 2 update.
(All dynamics and the revenue model for this game mode will be added to the whitepaper following the demo release.)
While designing the RedFlag mode, our primary goal was to enhance teamwork and communication among users in the Astar ecosystem. This would enable users in the Astar ecosystem to develop new networks while benefiting from the social-fi aspect of Web3 within just a game mode. Additionally, this mode, resembling a football match, will intensify in-game competition and deeply reflect the enjoyment of Astar Strike. This game mode will be integrated in the 2nd major update of Astar Strike.
In creating the Survival of Astar mode, we aimed to provide users with a battle royale experience, a current trend in the gaming world. In this mode, players will spawn on a map with 100 participants. They will engage in combat by crafting with materials found in the environment and collecting necessary defense tools. The primary objective in this shrinking map is to survive. All players will compete individually, offering a unique experience. Players achieving certain rankings will earn Astr rewards. This mode will be integrated in the 3rd major update of Astar Strike.
(All dynamics and the revenue model for this game mode will be added to the whitepaper after the Season 2 update.)
As the Neurolanche team, we strive to build trending products in the Astar Network and contribute to our ecosystem. Battle royale games have led to a significant increase in player bases due to their competitive nature. They can create a strong sense of competition among players. Competition among friends or within online communities can motivate players to engage more. Team-based game modes also foster social bonding. Players have started to prefer competitive and fast-paced experiences in large maps with hundreds of players. Games like PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG) and Fortnite were pioneers in popularizing the battle royale genre, adopting the basic mechanics of hundreds of players fighting for survival on the same map. Battle royale games have also carved a significant niche in the competitive esports scene, with major tournaments and leagues offering a platform for players to showcase their skills and win substantial prizes. These games try to keep player interest alive with regular updates and new content, like new maps, game modes, cosmetic items, and story elements, helping players continue without getting bored. Battle royale games have amassed large audiences on platforms like Twitch and YouTube, with viewers preferring to watch these games through popular streams and entertaining content. In summary, battle royale games tend to keep users active through factors like social bonds, continual progression, content creation, and community interaction. These games, catering to players' competitive nature and social needs, can foster long-term engagement and interest.
By incorporating this widely adopted game model into Astar Strike, we plan not only to add value to the Astar Network ecosystem but also to establish a strong presence in the gaming world. As the gaming industry had an economic volume of $176 billion in 2021, we aim to position the Astar Network ecosystem significantly in the Web3 space as this industry intersects with it.
"Competition has been a part of humanity since its inception. Our greatest battle is to protect and save the Astar Network ecosystem. Are you ready to fight with me in the supernova?" - Marween
This game mode will debut with the Astar Strike demo version. We named this mode "For Supernova" because we planned to launch Astar Strike one week before the Astar Network supernova update. In the For Supernova mode, players will compete individually on a small map. The game mode, consisting of a 30-minute event every Saturday, will have players striving for the highest kill count. This mode, similar to a Deathmatch dynamic, will see players competing for ranking. The primary purpose of launching this mode from our demo phase is to have a mode with the most dynamic, fast-paced action. Thus, we can develop it better with feedback from Astar Strike players. The only rule in this game: trust no one!
For Supernova will be the first game mode of our Astar Strike game. Therefore, this mode will hold significant importance in the Astar Network and Polkadot ecosystem, bringing a new perspective to the Web3 world. As the first game mode where users can actively participate with their NFTs, For Supernova will be a crucial step in making the Astar Network ecosystem vibrant and active.
Common in FPS (First-Person Shooter) games, the "Deathmatch" mode is a competitive style where players battle against each other. It encourages competition among players, enhancing their quick reaction skills and aiming abilities. Deathmatch modes are fast-paced and intense, testing players' instant decision-making skills and reaction times, potentially improving stress management and decision-making under pressure. Besides enhancing players' skills, Deathmatch FPS game modes also encompass various sociological effects such as social interaction, competition, teamwork, and stress management. Enabling players to positively utilize these effects creates a responsibility for game developers to maintain a positive gaming environment.
Get ready to be a part of a sociological culture with For Supernova!
The initial aim of For Supernova is to integrate Neurolauncher NFT holders and users participating in the Neurolanche dApp staking program into Astar Strike. Other communities will join in the 2nd and 3rd Season updates. Therefore, only Neurolanche dApp staking revenues will feature in our first game mode. 20% of our monthly dApp staking revenues will be transferred to the Astar Strike earnings system. Let's examine what this average revenue model might look like.
Currently, the monthly income of the Neurolanche dApp staking program is around 100,000 Astr, with 20,000 Astr being transferred to Astar Strike. This equates to approximately 5,000 Astr. As these reward amounts may change and increase over time, we will base our first example on current figures.
Expected Total Prize Pool for Each For Supernova Game Mode: 5,000 ASTR
The player with the highest kill count in the weekly Astar Strike event will receive 1,000 ASTR.
The second-highest killer in the weekly event will receive 500 ASTR.
The third-highest killer in the weekly event will receive 250 ASTR.
All players not in the top three will share a total prize of 3,250 ASTR, distributed according to the powerity feature. (The powerity feature is discussed below.)
Note: The reward amounts mentioned above are written without tax. Neurolauncher NFT holders will benefit from these rewards tax-free, while other users will be subject to tax. You can find detailed information in our "Tax System" section.
In developing Astar Strike, we aimed to add value to the Astar Network ecosystem and simultaneously make the Neurolauncher NFT collection more unique. This led us to present a robust game with different revenue models. The Powerity feature is designed to make holding multiple NFTs more meaningful for a user.
Powerity essentially means participation. It indicates how many times you can participate in the game's reward system. Here’s a simple explanation:
Each Neurolauncher NFT or soul-bound NFT holder counts as one user in the game, equating to one Powerity – one reward entitlement. However, under certain rules, holders of more Neurolauncher NFTs will have more Powerity points, thereby earning more rewards in Astar Strike. How is the Powerity score determined?
Users with 1-4 Neurolauncher NFTs: 1 Powerity
Users with 5-9 Neurolauncher NFTs: 2 Powerity
Users with 10-14 Neurolauncher NFTs: 3 Powerity
Users with 15-19 Neurolauncher NFTs: 4 Powerity
Users with 20-24 Neurolauncher NFTs: 5 Powerity
Users with 25 or more NFTs: 6 Powerity
The table above explains how much Powerity you will have. All users, except Neurolauncher NFT holders, have 1 Powerity point.
Note: Powerity only influences the reward system. It does not increase character strength in the game to ensure fair competition.
So how does this affect the reward system?
Having understood what Powerity is and who will have how much of it, let's explore its place in the reward system:
The first three user rewards are unaffected by Powerity – these prizes are always fixed. (Remember, the tax system will impact your rewards based on your entry rights.)
The Powerity system mainly influences how the prize pool allocated for these first three users is shared.
For instance, consider a prize pool of 3,250 ASTR outside the top three users, with 30 participants but 50 Powerity in the game. The 3,250 ASTR will be divided by 50 Powerity, amounting to approximately 65 ASTR per Powerity.
A user with 1 Powerity will earn 65 ASTR from that week's event.
A user with 2 Powerity will earn 130 ASTR from that week's event.
In short, the user's total reward for the week is their Powerity points multiplied by the reward amount per Powerity.
Function: H/TP=1P
H= Pool amount, TP= Total Powerity, 1P= Reward amount per Powerity.
Total reward amount for all users (excluding the top three) divided by Powerity equals the reward amount per Powerity.
So far, we've discussed all the game modes in Astar Strike. Now, let's examine a few features that players will have access to within the game:
We wanted to incorporate a clan system in Astar Strike. This will allow users to socialize and form their own communities, fostering a sociological balance within the Astar Network ecosystem.
Some weapon skins in the game will be available as NFTs, which users can purchase. Owners of these NFTs can use and trade these skins within the game. These weapon skins will be on WASM and are purely cosmetic, having no impact on gameplay.
(Note: The first weapon skin will be airdropped to players who minted three NFTs during the whitelist mint process of the Neurolauncher NFT collection when the game launches.)
Players in the game will be able to purchase chests either with their in-game achievements or by paying with ASTR. These chests will contain costumes and weapon skins that can be used for their Neurolauncher NFTs within the game. All costumes and weapon skins obtained from these chests will be NFTs on WASM. Players can choose to trade these NFTs if they wish. 25% of the ASTR earnings from the chest system will be transferred to the Astar Foundation for burning, contributing to the deflation of the ASTR token. 50% of the ASTR earnings from the chest system will be transferred to the Neurolanche X Labs treasury. The remaining 25% of the revenue generated by the chest system will be distributed monthly to Neurolauncher NFT holders.
Since the inception of Neurolanche X Labs, we have committed to supporting and adding value to the Astar Network ecosystem as a core vision. With the Astar Strike game, we aim to be an active dApp within our ecosystem and to cultivate a culture for the Astar Network. At Neurolanche X Labs, we will always strive to position the Astar Network as the most successful parachain in the Polkadot ecosystem. As we create a revolution in the Web3 world, we look forward to building the future together.
